Hi Precious Ones,
I have a friend in Maryland that has the gift of encouragement through her writings. I am including one of Deb McCarty's special letters of insight.
My dearest delightful friends,
Not too long ago, a friend of ours was riding his horse in a field when his
horse stumbled and he was thrown to the ground. This man is an experienced
rider, yet was caught unaware because the grasses of the field hid the hole
the horse stepped into. We see this quite frequently in our daily lives,
don’t we?
We ride merrily along, tending to our day’s requirements, and are silently
tripped up and sprung from our “saddles” like any inexperienced equestrian.
While there’s no real cure for the rider in the fields, Scripture makes
clear to us ways to stay alert and steady.
My Delights, abiding in Him daily is the only way to insure a steadfastness
and security in this world of ours. It is truly one of the unfathomable
wonders of the life of a Christian that as we draw near to Him, He draws
near to us, yet He is the one who initiates the drawing! (James 4:8, John
12:32)
Some of my favorite promises of Scripture are found in Psalm 91. We learn
in these verses that our shelter is to be in the “Most High”. As we trust
in Him, seek refuge in Him, we will be delivered safe and secure from all
terrors (Psa. 91:5), pestilence, destruction (v. 6), evil, or plague (v.
10). And, most exciting of all, “He will give His angels charge concerning
(us), to guard (us) in all (our) ways. They will bear (us) up in their
hands, lest (we) strike (our) foot against a stone.” (v. 11,12)
Your “horse” may stumble and even go down, yet, ultimately you will never
take that fatal fall because the Lord of all loves you and has delivered you
“because (you) have known His name.” (v.14)
I pray you all ride right over the holes on the wings of His angels.
Seeking to be steady,
Deb :)
And now for a silly something ˜
Just moved to town, Gladys Dunn decided that the first Sunday, she'd visit the church nearest to her new apartment. She found herself in a pretty sanctuary, and as the service began, she enjoyed the music offered by the choir.
But when the sermon began, it went on and on and on. In fact it was without substance and not at all interesting. Glancing around, she noticed that many in the congregation were nodding off, not even trying to stay awake.
Finally it was over, though, and people stood up for the final hymn.
After the service, to be social, she turned to the still sleepy looking gentleman next to her, extended her hand in greeting, and said, "Hello, I'm Gladys Dunn."
The gentleman replied, "You and me both!"
Kind of cute considering our situations, huh??
Joy!
Nancy
